Welcome To the Pilot Club of Orange Park
“Friendship and Service since 1975”
The Pilot Club of Orange Park is a part of Pilot International, a non-profit worldwide service organization founded in 1921. The Orange Park club was chartered May 19, 1975 and is still going strong.
We work in the local community supporting the Council on Aging for Clay County, Senior Advocacy Council, Anchor scholarships, Pilot Scholarship Houses, BASCA, Wounded Warrior, Dignity U Wear, Golden Years Gala, Golden Arts, and Pet Therapy. These are just a few of the organizations that we have helped over the years.
Pilot International
Pilot derives its name from the riverboat pilots who were able to steer a “true course” around obstacles and challenging conditions. The mission of Pilot International is to improve the quality of life in communities throughout the world with an emphasis on brain health. The Pilot International Headquarters are located in Macon, Georgia. There are Pilot and Anchor Clubs in 6 Countries. Pilot International Foundation is a 501 c(3) organization.
Florida District
The Florida District is home to 32 Pilot clubs stretching from Pensacola, the first club chartered in 1928, to Miami, chartered in 1934. In 2012, Pilot International will install the sixth International President from Florida, Winnie Brewer from Titusville.
Anchor Clubs
Pilot Clubs sponsor Anchor Clubs in elementary, middle and high schools throughout the District. There are 39 Anchor Clubs in the Florida District with over 1,800 members. The Pilot Club of Orange Park sponsors two Anchor Clubs: Orange Park and Ridgeview High Schools. Anchor members volunteer hours to improve their communities while learning leadership skills that will last a lifetime. They present the Brain Minders Buddies Program to the Elementary School students, plan parties for the residents of local health care facilities, participate in Brain Walks, Soup Kitchen service, and highway clean-ups. They attend the annual Anchor Convention in Kissimmee with the financial help of the Pilot Club.
Fundraising
Our club raises funds throughout the year so that we can give back to our community. The primary fundraiser is a joint effort with the Port of Jacksonville Pilot Club, “Tales of our City” historic tour of Evergreen Cemetery.
Scholarship Houses
In 1962, the Pilot Scholarship House Foundation, unique to Florida, was chartered. This Foundation answered the need for a statewide project that all Florida Pilots support. Scholarship houses at Florida State University in Tallahassee, the University of Florida in Gainesville, and the Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft Meyers are available to women with high academic achievement, motivation, and financial need. These homes partner with the Southern Scholarship Foundation in overseeing the home
